From a personal point of view working on this project was a great privilege as we had to document the history of the reclaimed land where the Dunedin Sargood building now sits.  The film charts both the Maori and European history of the site.  One day on the project we were sitting with two Maori elders telling us of their people’s history regarding the reclaimed land myself  and the crew were captivated.   They also gave us the  sense of responsibility to get things right. Working for NewSplash we were to write and produce  the information film that would sit in the buildings entrance for visitors to watch.   Using hand drawn animation, time lapse and live action the film examines the importance of the land for both both Maori and Pakeha over the last 800 years.
